I felt it was kind of a bonus on this father/son trip that my son got to stay in a neat little throw back motel.
The property has an "old school" motel ambience that sort of takes you back in time. It is a five minute walk from the core of Lake City and several decent nu book in the room. The property backs up to the mountain so it is very quiet. When I walked outside at around 6:00 AM, there were five deer walking along the trail on the mountain about one hundred yards behind the motel. The in room coffee set up produced a very respectable cup of coffee.
Our room had two, comfortable queen sized beds, useful rustic furniture and was otherwise comfortably and adequately appointed. My son and I rented a jeep from a company in Lake City and wanted to sleep in town so we could get an early start the next day on the Alpine Loop.
